LIGHTHOUSE POINT - After serving the City of Lighthouse Point for six years as a contract worker, Licata becomes a permanent employee effective October 2009.
Future plans include installing cameras at city parks, and at the entrances to the community to capture the license plates of all vehicles entering and leaving Lighthouse Point.

The police department will be installing a new real time license plate recognition in 2009. The purchase was made possible with recent Federal Forfeiture Funds received.

LIGHTHOUSE POINT POLICE RECEIVES MILLIONS
As a result of partnering with the DEA, the City of Lighthouse Point has received $2.6 million from Federal Forfiture funds- money from a money laundering case- according to the Sept 24 city commission meeting minutes. The money can only be used for specific police department purposes.
