The Lighthouse Point Police Department will be accepting any controlled, non-controlled, and over the counter medications for disposal at Dixon Ahl Hall, 2220 NE 38 Street, on Saturday, September 25, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The purpose of this one day program is to bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. Many Americans are unaware that unused medicines in homes are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse.
There’s another benefit though. Studies have shown there is a high incidence of drugs in ground water. Save the planet. Take your drugs to the police instead of throwing out or flushing them down the toilet.
You can read more about what’s in our drinking water on the US government site.
