Lighthouse Point budget You can find more info, but you’ll need to dig through meeting minutes & agendas. I also obtained a copy of the 80 page budget May 2007, workshop documents in Sept.

Parkland 2006-2007 Line Item Budget Worksheet- the detail is significantly more in depth than ours.

Lighthouse Point Line Item Budget Worksheet
Lighthouse ad valorem detail- workshop May 2007 Their revenues include line items for donations, insurance reimbursements, revenue for each different camp. You need to read theirs to see the shortcomings of ours.

Shown is just one line item. But if you look at the documents, Parkland has every accounting line item including copying, postage, sports equipment, egg hunt activities, uniforms, disaster clean up, office supplies and more. We get rolled up numbers for every department. And if they are not rolled up, then we are grossly mislabeling accounting items. For example, in Parkland you can see monies spent to get grants, and where the grant money goes after you get them. Not so in Lighthouse Point.

In Parkland (other documents same web page) you can see what the pay ranges are for jobs in different categories, even special consideration for longevity pay. The commission votes on this. In Lighthouse Point (the workshop document I have) you can see how many employees are full time, part time. We don’t have pay ranges for any positions. That’s right. There is no formal pay range for city jobs in Lighthouse Point. That may be different for police and fire with their negotiated contracts, and in my research, police & fire have always gotten the short end of the stick on pay increases.

I MAKE A MOTION THAT WE ADOPT THE CITY OF PARKLAND PRACTICES FOR FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE WITHIN 90 DAYS, INCLUDING POSTING OF THE SAME STYLE REPORTS ON THE CITY WEB SITE.
