Financial aid is NEED BASED. Middle income families may qualify for some aid. No matter how smart or talented you are, you will not get a scholarship from the Ivy League if your parents can afford to pay your way.
Straight A’s and vigorous courses are VERY important.
SAT’s – 1500 and above are VERY important.
Extracurricular- playing a sport isn’t enough. They look for leaders, not committee members. Outstanding achievements and awards within or outside the school system can play a part in this subjective part of analysis. After middle school, students should focus on 1-3 extra areas and do them exceptionally well.
