Why malaria drug shows promise for treating Covid-19 coronavirus

A French human trial by Didier Raoult, MD PhD, Director of research groups in infectious diseases and microbiology followed a China shared study from by a well-known scientist that showed promise. Dr Raoult is the author and co-author of more than 2000 scientific publications!

Clinica trial excerpt: At day6 post-inclusion:
– 100% of patients treated with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combination were virologically cured
– 57.1% in patients treated with hydroxychloroquine only, were virologically cured
– 12.5% in the control group (p<0.001)were virologically cured.

Pessimists are spreading fake news that President Trump is promoting hydroxychloroquine because he will benefit from it financially. Trump, the FDA and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) worked together to get over 40M generic doses DONATED to the Strategic National Stockpile, now being distributed to those who want it. More solutions are being tested, but for those doctors and patients who need something right now, thankfully, they have a choice.

Both drugs were not previously stockpiled. I suspect that getting anything donated to the national stockpile is unprecedented, but I did not research. This is when Americans should open up and say, “thanks”! Chances are drug companies will get orders in the future, but that’s a big if. For the moment, leaders across industries are doing the right thing now to save lives.
